Write Your Book With Me
7-Week Sprint Course &
Accountability Group

next cohort starts June 2024

Join us on a 7-week sprint
Whether you need to take your book to the end or you're just getting started.

Join me on a group writing and accountability journey. It's just $249 per class for 1 full hour of wisdom, workshopping and accountability.

Or, if you're ready to commit to a full 7-weeks of group collaboration, it's $1,599 for the entire 7-week sprint.

Come to one class or come to all of them. It’s totally up to you.

All I ask is that when you show up, you show up ready to work, to actively listen and participate, and that you commit all of your energy to the work and the homework. This will help me to keep on track too as I progress through my journey.

I would love for you to join me!

Write YOUR Book Course Overview
It's a 7 week sprint

Over the course of 7 weeks, we will cover the 3 ‘traditional’ pillars of book writing:

1 - WRITING

2 - PUBLISHING

3 - MARKETING

Why? Because you need to get the book written, get it published, and get it into people’s hands… right?)

We will do some deep diving - inside and out to uncover what must be written by you, for your reader. I say “we” because my friend Kent’s approach with his authors is ALWAYS collaborative and emergent.

(Pretty exciting, if you ask me.)

This isn’t some kind of traditional book writing course… .It’s all about unlearning what you think you know about the writing process, tapping into your inner genius (and intuitive), and creating the framework/structure to get your book out into the world.

The experience is more ‘office hours’ and workshopping, and less about boring and cheesy powerpoints with a know-it-all instructor droning on.

And this is why I am so “All In” on this process.

It’s both exciting and scary - two key ingredients to what drives me - and the promise of having MY book at the end of 7 weeks is exceptionally appealing to me.

I hope it is for you as well.

Week 1
Overview

Popping the balloons of what you think the writing process is all about, and getting clear on what you actually need to do in order to write a book that your audience wants to read. We’ll talk about the Who, What, Where, Hows, and especially the Why. We will also dive into the 3 “pillars” of getting your book into readers’ hands: Writing, Publishing and Marketing - and open the curtain to reveal what’s behind each. (Kent has been conducting workshops on all three aspects for 15 years, and he’s helped thousands of people write, publish, and market their books. So we’re in good hands.)

Homework Assignments

  • Acknowledgements (so that you write with your mentors, friends, and readers in mind)
  • Fun with friends (you’ll like this one –and it will help you find perfect branding)
  • Bookstore outing (don’t forget your mask)

Week 2
What's The Name?

Synthesize, Story, Structure. In week 2, we’ll come back together to synthesize all you’ve learned in Week 1 and use your homework findings to jumpstart the process of writing. But hold tight - we won’t be writing just yet! This class is all about getting yourself organized and set up for success.

Homework Assignment

  • Catalog and sort

Week 3
WIIFR - What's In It For The Reader?

This week is all about the reader. We’ll answer the primary question - WIIFR - What’s In It For the Reader? This is a highly interactive discussion session where we will be having open discussions about who the reader is, what they are seeking and what would we like our reader to take away from our book. This week also introduces the AKA Session - Ask Kent Anything. You can ask Kent for feedback, input and general guidance.

Homework Assignment

  • Table of Contents

Week 4
The Writing Process: Setting Yourself (and your environment) Up for Success

This is the week where we dive into YOU & YOUR environment and keep you out of the perfectionist trap. Do you write best in 20-min blocks, early in the morning, using a voice-to-text app. or something else altogether. No answer, no approach is wrong! We’ll identify how, where and when you write best and we will begin to write….

Homework Assignment

  • Write your 1st chapter (no edits allowed – we will explain why)

Week 5
Evaluation

Just like a science experiment testing a hypothesis, we will use this week to analyze what worked and what didn’t when you wrote your first chapter. This has nothing to do with quality of content and everything to do with environment, motivation and completing your task.

Homework Assignments

  • Write your next 3 chapters (no edits allowed)

Week 6
The Finisher

Continuing with the theme “Done is better than perfect”, we will identify and commit to what you’ll need to do in order to finish your book. Your outcome is NOT your final product but it will contain everything you need to bring your book into the world.

Homework Assignments

  • Write your remaining chapters

Week 7
Capstone

With all you’ve learned, and all you’ve done, you have everything you need to bring your work into the world. We will revisit what comes next when it comes to publishing and marketing your book. We’ll address how to find an editor and/or an agent. However, you may have also uncovered that you’d like to take your book concept to the next level or in another direction altogether - such as into a new website, a podcast, a YouTube video series, another book or a myriad of other avenues. We’ll help you identify your next best steps to bring your book to life. You’ll have a completed story, a solid piece of tangible thought leadership that can take on the form that you feel will best help achieve your objectives.

Homework Assignments

  • Create your Go Forward plan
